Rain in the Red Sea?

365 days of sunshine? Well almost! On Friday someone told me the weather forecast was rain. I and a few others laughed. Well we weren't laughing around 8pm last night (Sun, Jan 17) when we watched a great lightening storm from our home in Hadaba, Hurghada. Then we received a call from a friend in El Gouna who informed us they were under torrential tropical rain for about 20-30 mins. We went to bed thinking we would be lucky, but around 3 am the rain hit Hurghada. Not sure how long it lasted, but must have been at least 30 mins. Our power was out until about 9am but other than that we didn't have any leaks! Some others were not so lucky.

Some of our readers may have witnessed the rain we experienced here in the Red Sea in 1996. Luckily, the rain didn't last as long as then, but we still have flooding and of course a big mess.

Send us your photos and we will add them to our blog, your comments and info are also welcome.

Take care and don't approach any electric cables and if you think you have water damage in your house close to the wires, turn off the mains and wait until everything is dry before switching it back on!

Who ever said the weather in the Red Sea was boring :)

we are living at El Gouna and we felt the rain surprise personally.
Rain came through doors, windows, walls and everywhere. This proved once again the quality of Orascom properties where they ask proper european purchase prices. But this seems to be normal for local business: Very low quality for very high prices. This is called at the paradise on the Red Sea: "Life as it should be", and this is the reason why so many people try to sell their property at El Gouna again - but who will buy them ????????

Sure, And you like a few El Gouna owner spending your time moaning how life is so bad an unfair to you, is not only ridiculous in your living context, but it also undermine your own chances of reselling you own good :)

Very clever of you in Deed.

(ps: I have no interest in Orascom, nor own a Villa anywhere in Egypt... Just common sens speaking... Someone had to tell you this.)
